  • What is The 1 Giant Mind Being Meditation Technique?
    It is based upon Vedic Meditation, which is an ancient mantra-based meditation technique that’s part of the yogic tradition. It is easy to learn and simple to practice. The mind quickly and effortlessly calms and settles while the body rests very deeply. This natural technique triggers the relaxation response (which is the opposite of the fight or flight/acute stress response) and immediately delivers benefits such as deep rest and a quieter mind. The profound rest enables us to release deep rooted stress and fatigue from our system and allows the mind and body to repair. We also notice an increase in energy, leaving us feeling restful but alert, with a feeling of ease and contentment.
  • How is it different from other types of meditation?
    Anyone can do it. If you have tried other forms of meditation but they haven’t worked for you, you will find the 1 Giant Mind Being Technique easy and very effective. It stands apart, but is complimentary to other forms of meditation because of its simplicity and effectiveness. Other styles of meditation may involve concentration (focusing the mind through effort), visualisation or contemplation (continuous thoughts about something) — all of which are fine, but keep the mind at work. This technique works with the mind, not against it. By practising the 1 Giant Mind Being Technique regularly, you will feel more present in the moment, gain increased awareness and find more enjoyment in life.
  • Is there any scientific research on meditation?
    Many studies on meditation are carried out annually and they show that meditation is highly beneficial and effective for our health and wellbeing. Improved physical and mental health, memory and relationships are frequently cited as key benefits.
  • Do I have to change my religious or personal beliefs?
    No. There is no belief system involved. This technique is suitable for anyone, regardless of race or religion. We use the 1 Giant Mind Being Technique as a straightforward non-religious based meditation technique — it’s a highly effective tool to help you deal with the challenges of modern life.
  • Will I have to sit cross-legged on the floor and chant?
    No. Once you have been taught to meditate on the Course you practice in silence, sitting in a comfortable chair with your eyes closed and your back supported. Comfort is the key.
  • How is the Course structured?
    There are three sessions over three consecutive days. Each session is ninety minutes long. All three sessions must be taken and you must have seen an Introductory Talk before you can register for a Course. Group Courses are generally Saturday to Monday. Private Courses are also run across three consecutive days and are arranged at a mutually convenient time.
  • What kind of support and follow-up do I get after I have learned?
    Ongoing free support is an important and essential part of what I offer to all students. The course fee gives you continuous life-long support and access to my advice. I stay in touch with students through personal appointments, email, social media, occasional newsletters. Once you have been taught to meditate you are encouraged to attend the regular free group meditations, which help to ensure that you stay on track with your practice, give you lots of practical advice and the opportunity meet up with like-minded people.
  • Do I need a special room to meditate in?
    No. One of the many benefits of the 1 Giant Mind Being Technique is that you become totally self-sufficient and can practice your meditation anywhere that you can sit comfortably and undisturbed. It is totally portable and can be done anywhere such as at home, at work, on public transport, on planes, in a park or a coffee shop.
  • When will I feel the benefits?
    Straightaway. You are taught to meditate on the first day of the Course. Many people notice some immediate benefits such as greater calmness, better sleep and more energy, and often family and friends will notice these changes too. You will be shown how to recognise these changes and keep track of them.
  • Will I lose some sharpness and become too relaxed?
    No. Meditators find there is an increase in energy, focus, and perspective. They tend to be more adaptable and discerning and can easily prioritise, detect subtleties and make good decisions.
  • Will The 1 Giant Mind Being Meditation Technique work for me?
    Yes - there is nobody I have not been able to teach who hasn't 'got it'. The technique uniquely offers a comprehensive and easily learnt, well-structured Course. It is a completely natural and simple technique that anyone can learn. No specific skills are needed and you don't have to change your lifestyle.
  • How do I fit this into my life?
    On the Course you are given plenty of tips on how easy it is to find the time to meditate every day. Meditation makes you more efficient and that in turn creates time for you to meditate.
  • I have a very active mind - will I be able to do this?
    Yes. In this technique thoughts are considered a natural part of your meditation. You will be taught how to use a mantra, which is a soothing sound vibration, which guides the mind to ever more quieter levels, and thoughts will then gently and naturally disappear.
  • Will it take years for me to master?
    No. You will be taught carefully and correctly to meditate on your own and by the last day of the Course you will have the confidence and technique to meditate successfully at home or anywhere else. You will be a self sufficeint meditator and quickly master the technique. The simplicity and ease of this technique can sometimes be undermined by doubts driven by the mind wanting to rationalise and question what you have learnt which is another reason for staying in touch and coming to Group Meditations. Free ongoing life-long support is always there to help you out, should you need it.
  • Will I be expected to give up alcohol and become a vegetarian?
    No. You don't have to change your life to learn or practice this technique, but don't be surprised if, after a while, some detrimental and unsustainable habits may start to lose their attraction.
  • Am I going to have to discuss personal matters in front of others?
    No. The Course will include discussions about what you are being taught and the effects you are noticing. You can discuss any personal concerns with me in private if you’d like to.
  • Is there anyone this doesn't work for?
    No. An open and curious mind together with a willingness to follow simple instructions is all that you need.
